Complete Care Coordination is a leading provider of home care assistance for seniors in the town of Mount Royal. For elderly residents living at home, safety and a lack of company can quickly become serious issues. That’s why it’s important for older persons in TMR to have a qualified, experienced caregiver, and CCC can help. For nearly two decades, we have been providing seniors of Mount Royal with the care they need to continue living at home, and providing their adult children with the peace of mind knowing that their parents are being properly cared for each day. Here are some of the ways in which we can help:
Mount Royal Retirement Homes
While many seniors prefer living at home as long as possible, doing so often becomes impossible or simply unsafe. If your loved one is considering the move into a retirement home in TMR, we can help. Complete Care offers a free retirement home placement service, helping you find the ideal senior’s residence based on health care needs, budget, and personal preferences including location, access to amenities, onsite services, and much more.
Mount Royal Senior Care Services
When an elderly person lives alone, whether at home or in a residence, the days can seem to drag on. Loneliness is very common in these situations, as is depression; that’s why having a caregiver to provide companionship and a friendly smile is an important aspect of senior care. Whether it’s help with bathing, dressing, eating, preparation of meals, monitoring of medications, house work, or simply providing comfort with a game of cards and some tea, our caregivers work hard to improve your loved one’s quality of life.
Mount Royal Activities for the Elderly
Being mentally and physically engaged is important for seniors. If you have an aging loved one who lives in TMR or might make the move, here are some ways you can help them stay healthfully entertained within the community.
1. Recreation Centre
The Mount Royal Recreation Centre is a community space with many activities available. For senior residents (60+), the membership card is free! This means that your elderly loved one has access to two exercise rooms, an art and pottery studio, a senior’s lounge, and much more, all free of charge. To register, visit the website for contact information.
2. Courses & Workshops
Once a membership card is acquired, seniors of Mount Royal will also have access to classes offered at the recreation centre. These include iPad workshops to become more acquainted with technology, exercise programs to stay active, social gatherings such as barbecues and bingo, and out-of-town excursions. Click here for more information, including how to register.
3. Dog Park
For seniors with a fluffy friend, the TMR dog run is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. Located off of Dunkirk road, this large, fenced area is perfect for allowing your pet off the leash to socialize and play with other dogs. There are also plenty of benches, so seniors can sit, relax, and enjoy the fresh air.
4. Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau Rose Garden
There’s a very good reason why Mount Royal is referred to as “a garden city”! If your elderly loved one enjoys the natural beauty of flowers, this botanical garden is an ideal day-trip during the spring and summer months. Our caregivers can drive your loved one to this garden on Laird boulevard, and spend the afternoon walking around with them so they can observe the relaxing scenery. It’s also a great way to get exercise, fresh air, and a healthy amount of sunlight.
5. Saint Joseph’s Oratory
This famous Catholic basilica, located in Mount Royal, is Canada’s largest church. Its impressive size and beautiful Roman architecture make it a famous point of interest in TMR. While the amount of stairs may seem daunting to seniors, the basilica is actually very accessible to those with reduced mobility. There are two elevators within the church to provide easy access to each floor, wheelchairs can be borrowed for free, and there are reserved parking spaces for those with disability stickers. Apart from masses, there is also a museum in the basilica, displaying historic pieces of religious art.
6. Mount Royal
Arguably the most recognizable natural landmark in Montreal, this green territory is perfect for nature-loving seniors. The three summits of this mountain from which the city got its name are full of wildlife, including 700 species of plants, 180 species of birds (for seniors who love birdwatching), and 20 species of mammals. Walking around Mount Royal Park while enjoying the natural allure of the landscape and soaking in the sun is a great activity for the elderly.
7. Religious Buildings
For seniors, having access to houses of worship is often an important element to choosing which area they will live in. Luckily, for those in the Town of Mount Royal, there are a plethora of buildings where the elderly can practice their beliefs. These include Mount Royal United Church, St. Peter’s Church, and synagogues such as Congregation Beth-El and Congregation First Mesifta of Canada.
